Compatible Headsets & Solutions

Due to how the CronusMAX PLUS communicates with the PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers, you will not be able to use a chatpad or any headsets that plug into the controller itself (unless you are using the two controller method on the Xbox One - see below). However, any headset that can connect directly to the console it was designed for, either wired or wireless should work fine.

We have compiled a list of known solutions that are are fully compliant with the CronusMAX PLUS. There may be others, we will update the list as often as we can. If you come across a headset that works and should be added to this page, please let us know :)

PlayStation 4

Known working headset solutions for the PS4 Console

CronusMAX PLUS PS4 Add-On Pack - This includes a Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adapter (for PlayStation and Wii Wireless Controller Support), a PS4 USB Sound Card and a 2M 3.5mm 4 Pole Headset Extension Cable.

The PS4 USB Sound Card has been developed and manufactured by our own factory for optimum performance. This allows you to connect almost any brand, wired headset that has 3.5mm headphone/mic connectors. Many CronusMAX PLUS bundle deals are already packaged with this special add-on pack, or you can click here to buy it separately. Note: Some "classic" headsets have 2 x TRS 3.5mm jacks - one for the microphone (red) and one for the headphones (green), you will need to use a simple 4-Pole TRRS to 3.5mm Stereo & Mic Adapter, as the PS4 USB Sound Card has a modern, single 4 pole TRRS 3.5mm input socket. You can buy those in our store very cheaply (click here).

Instructions: Simply connect the PS4 USB Sound Card to one of the spare USB ports on your PlayStation 4, connect the wired headset to the PS4 USB Sound Card, go to PS4 Settings > Devices > Audio Devices and set the Output To Headphones to "All Audio". Click Here for more information on setting up your headphone audio options on your PS4. Feel free to adjust the settings to your own liking.

If a headset is listed below, it does not require the PS4 USB Sound Card and will work perfectly without it.

To access this setting, open Control Panel, select Hardware and Sound, and then select Manage Audio Devices.

- For Party Chat, on the first page when you open the Xbox App select Start Party.

- For Gaming Chat, simply stream the game from the console to your Windows 10 Desktop/Laptop and click the "Unmute chat" microphone icon at the top right of the screen to unmute your headset.

Two Controller Method - This is a simple method discovered by members of our community where a standard Xbox One gaming headset with full in-game audio and chat can be used with a CronusMAX by utilizing a second XBOX ONE controller. This solution is perfect for those with popular gaming headsets such as the Astro A40 and Astro A50.

1. Using a controller that you are NOT going to use CronusMAX with, connect to the rear USB port of the Xbox One and start the console. Plug a headset adapter and headset into this controller. The headset adapter can already be plugged in. The order does not matter.
2. Sign in as the account profile you want to use online.
3. Start a party with your friend. Once chat is working through the headset, plug in the CronusMAX. Now authenticate with another controller (the controller that you WILL be using with CronusMAX).
3. With the CronusMAX controller, navigate to your profile pic in the top left of the screen and press A. Then select "Choose this person" by pressing A.
4. You can now continue chatting and play multiplayer games with full audio and chat capability while using your CronusMAX.
