FFB Weak and not Correct with Drivehub

Hi there,

Had my DriveHub since December and not really felt like there was anything wrong with it until now. I’ve doubled dipped on Project Cars 2 for Xbox and using my Drivehub to use my G29 on it.

Ive noticed the FFB is totally off and very weak when playing on Xbox. I’ve done a control and plugged the DriveHub into the PS4 and it’s the same. Much weaker and off FFB compared to plugging straight into the PS4.

Why would this be?

Tried different firmwares to no avail.

It was was my assumption it would emulated 1:1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried GT Sport, back to back tests with DriveHub and Direct.

Same thing again. Weaker FFB strength. Is this normal?

EDIT - Tried Assetto Corsa also. Albeit having to reload the game every time I switched from DriveHub to direct, it was less obvious whether there was a difference here.

Sorry I don't have a G29, I know with PCars (1, not 2) and AC I get pretty much the same experience with or without the DH. I would expect the G29 to behave similar. Maybe Podger has some insights.

I feel the same with my g29 on Xbox, did you have any luck resolving this?

Nope. Not heard anything...just hopeful for a new firmware update...

Some sort of clarity from CronusMax would be great though.

I hopeful that it is purely software. The differences vary between games with Project Cars 2 being the worst. Assetto Corsa is no where near as weak compared to PC2 when using the DriveHub.

Some sort of response would be nice given the cost of the device.

Sorry, I'll tag Podger and see if he has any feedback on this. Unfortunately I only have a Fanatec wheel these days.

Be interesting to hear his thoughts on the matter as currently I'm turned off using the device knowing that it's not giving me the feedback I should be getting.

So you're corroborating with what I'm experiencing? You've tried Dirt Rally on PS4 with the Drivehub and Xbox without and it differs? I haven't tried Dirt Rally myself but will see if that's the same also.

Yeah..it isnt anywhere near the feel on ps4 with drivehub that i get from xbox one plugged directly....i wasnt expecting it to feel like my fanatec does direclty to xbox.but it really is miles off and isnt worth playing imo....i have dirt 4 on both platforms and will test tonight...i expect similar results

Still nothing...

Might just sell this thing on...not going to use it if it isn't correct.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, shame but I could have put the money toward a proper wheel

I was mainly playing on PS4 Pro before the Xbox One X was out so got the DriveHub to use my lowly G29 setup on it. Might just purchase a proper wheel for the Xbox One X now to benefit from the grunt it offers.

Re: FFB Weak and not Correct with Drivehub

While testing with forza 7 on Xbox x with drive hub and g29 I found something which helps, I don't know if it's now how it should be as I haven't tried a g920 on Xbox.
When playing forza 7 the wheel was really weak and rumble was really strong and intrusive.
I found that if you pause the game then unplug the g29 from the drive hub and plug it back in the wheel resets itself and when you go back into game the FFB feels totally different, maybe how it should ?
Either way the game plays with the wheel the way I would expect.
Anyone want to try it and post your thoughts?
Maybe drive hub staff could give their thoughts on this, what does it do by unplugging the wheel and replugging while in game?

I have exactly the same problem. I have the g29 and PC2 on the PS4 and the force feedback is great, you can feel everything and it gives a great sense of being in the car.

I recently got a one x and PC2 and I got the drive hub so I didn't have to buy a new wheel. The force feedback is feeble, no vibrations over the track, pervs, bumps etc and I find the cars very difficult to drive as I have no sense of movement etc. I will maybe try a different firmware but any advice from the company would be great...

Re: FFB Weak and not Correct with Drivehub

I did some testing on this last night. I started with G29 on Pcars 2 on xbox 1.. the FFB was terrible. I switched to G920 directly on xbox 1 and it was almost identically crap.
I made a few videos and shared with the a colleague, but didn't mention the issue. He agreed the 2 behaved similarly and followed up that is looks awful...
the environmental effects like surface noise are hugely exaggerated, I also noticed the spring was set to 0.05 ( out of 1.00) i.e. 5%, I think maybe the settings are all wrong, I didn't take the time last night to mess with those, I will do it over the coming days.

For now I'm going to call this as bad FFB from the game and not a protocol translation issue with in DriveHub...

Oh, and I can't fix bad FFB...

Thank you for looking at this, could you do the same tests with a g29 and g920 with forza 7?
Many thanks in advance.
Also could you look at my last post and give me some thoughts?

I hadn't over looked your comments, I just hadn't taken a look yet, as a matter of fact a comment like that is always very interesting to me..

I was thinking about it all day and came to the conclusion that its a damper issue, I added the damper from Forza in the last version, there is definitely one sent from the game, but it never changes so I only send it once as in the first time it changes from 0 to something... your comment about plugging and unplugging caught my eye as it would suggest the damper is the issue.

While playing with the G29 I found the FFB boring.. and the steering was heavy and grindy which again all points to damper... I removed it and FFB was more exciting, but you do need a damper i think so the wheel is totally power-steering-esque..

options > controller > advanced( X )
2rd last slider is Wheel Damper Force..... set that to like 20%,

I think the experience will improve..

** that X is G29 square not cross

I've played with the settings for a while and find this is as good as I can get it, sorry to be a pain with this bit could you try it and give me some feedback on of you think it feels right? I'm thinking the force feedback in forza of just naff compared to GT

wheel angle 900
force under steer 160
force min 150
damper 10
centre spring 100

everything else default

Has this been sorted out with new firmware or something??
Im currently in the process of trying to decide between the CSL Elite which licences and made for PlayStation or the V2.5 which I was thinking about going via the the Drivehub. I know the V2.5 is overall stronger and better but I want it to just work, I don’t want to stuff around every time I boot up a game. Also, I don’t have xBox which I could just default to if it doesn’t work with a certain game.

Maybe I’m just better off going with the CSL Elite and direct connection without any adaptors in the middle

Just get a DriveHub and use it https://shop.cronusmax.com/drivehub.html

Don't like it? Return it for a refund.

Re: FFB Weak and not Correct with Drivehub

Im having this problem. Running a T300 but wanted Fanatec V3 pedals so went with a Drivehub. Everythings updated and working but the FFB is so weak on GT Sport and theres no road vibration/bump feedback and torque steer etc anymore. Feels boring. When connected straight into the PS4 it was superb. This is shocking. Can anything be done or am I looking at having to get a Fanatec wheel? Thanks guys.
