Load Cronus PRO and go to Tools > Options > Device
![]() Set the Output Protocol to PS4.
These are also the recommended default Speed Up Settings for Wired DualShock 4 Controllers (including a DS4 Wireless Controller with a Micro USB Cable). Rumble Over Bluetooth is disabled as it's not being used.
![]() Naturally you should also be using a high quality, low latency Micro USB cable, for best results no more than 6ft/1.8m in length. You don't have to get anything crazy expensive, my personal favorite is from Amazon and made by Anker. It's a great quality braided cable with 24K gold plated connectors.

Select the CMax Plus Tab and make sure the box to the left of 'Enable PS4 partial crossover support (auto reconnect every 10 min)' is NOT checked.
![]() We also recommend you select the 'Mimic Controller Player LEDs' option if you have CronusMAX PLUS v3 device. This is especially useful if you plan on using our GamePacks.
You can now close the Options window and disconnect your CronusMAX PLUS from your PC.

If the LED on the CronusMAX PLUS does not change from AU to a number then the authorization controller is not authenticating. 99% of the time we find that this means the Micro-USB cable to the controller is faulty or not full data or simply not compatible, you should try another one. Another issue that sometimes comes up is that the controller USB port has a loose data pin. It will charge fine, but won't transmit data. Also make sure the controller is powered on of course - that's a rookie mistake. If you find that your DS4 controller disconnects at random times there are several things to check that should solve the problem. 1. Make sure you unpair the DS4 controller from the console correctly. Click here for detailed instructions. 2. The USB cable could be losing its connection between the controller and the CronusMAX. This can be caused by a poor quality USB cable, the USB socket on the controller itself is loose, or any USB extension cable you are using with the controller is poor quality or too long. Check all connections and replace any parts if necessary. 3. You powered on the console with the controller. Don't do that as the console will sync with the controller and the security ID will pass to the console and not the CronusMAX PLUS. Always power on the console with the consoles power button. 4. Go to Step 1 in this guide and make sure 'Inframe In' is disabled and also try disabling the '1ms Response' and 'Inframe Out' options too. This sometimes solves any disconnecting problems. | ||
